Data Processing Centres

Located at IFCA and at CSIC headquarters in Madrid, our Data Processing Centres offer Cloud computing and storage services at the infrastructure level(IaaS), based on the OpenStack platform, and HPC through the Altamira node, part of the Spanish Supercomputing Network. The main objective of both solutions is to support the data processing and analysis needs of research projects. While an HPC solution prioritises capacity and computing power through parallel processing, Cloud computing covers a broader spectrum (greater horizontality), in terms of the type of application or service deployed, and its main objective is to simplify access to different types of hardware resources, including specialised resources such as GPUs or low latency networks with high transfer rates.
